J. Mims and daughter of Rev. and Mrs. J. C. Taylor, was born in Tallapoosa County Alabama, August 29th 1859, was married to J. J. Mims, at Oxford, Ala., May 9th 1880, by Rev. Roberts. There was born to her and husband four children, only one of which survive her. She died May 29th 1896 at Heflin. Rev. John A. Scott pastor of the Baptist Church at this place conducted the funeral services. Although Mrs. Mims had never attached herself to any church, she had, several years ago, expressed a hope in Christ, she ever lived a quiet life, peaceful, unobstrusive life, hereby showing hte acceptance and love of God in her heart. As a daughter, wife, and mother she was ever dutiful, kind, and affectionate. Death came to her suddenly and unexpectedly, she yeilded up her soul peacefully. Her mother, brothers, sisters and husband are joined by a large troop of friends who mourn for her. Cleburne New Era, Thursday, May 28, 1896 A Sad Death Mrs. J.J. Mims died at the residence of her mother, Mrs. J.C. Taylor, yesterday, Friday evening. Her home is with h er husband at Tifton, Ga, and she had come up a few weeks ago to spend the summer here. Mr. Mims was notified by wire Friday morning that his wife was sick, and the same evening the sad message, that she was dead, was sent to him. Expressions of sympathy with grief stricken husband and sorrowing relatives of Mrs. Mims are heard on every hand, Truly this is a sad and sudden ending of a peaceful happy life.
