Ocilla Star March 6, 1924 Mr. Jake Harper of Wray died Tuesday night at his home 
after an illness of several years during which time he was confined to his bed.  
His burial occurred today at New Hope Church. He was an honored citizen and a good 
man who will be missed in the communtiy in which he lived.  He was well up in his 
80's  and died died from infirmities of old age.  He is survived by his widow and 
8 children: Messrs, Albert L, Lott, Joel J., Walter, H. B. Alonzo, Sewell Harper 
and Mrs. C. R. McDermitt.
George Jacob Harper was the son of Henry S.C. Harper and Nancy Anna Merritt.  He 
married Sarah "Sallie" Paulk in 1862, Coffee Co., GA. They are both buried in New 
Hope Baptist Church Cem., Ambrose, Coffee Co., GA.
