Elie Whitley

The funeral service for Elie Whitley of Ocilla, who died Wednesday, 
October 16, 1996 at Irwin County Hospital, was held Saturday, October 19 
at 11:00
a.m. at Pine Hill Baptist Church. He was 84.
Rev. Alton Carver and Rev. Charles Nichols officiated at the service 
with interment in Brushy Creek Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Kell Whitley, Winfred Johnson,
Michael Jankiewicz, Terrell Ring, Randy J. Hogan, Wenzal Bryant, 
Marshton Tucker and Richard Wilder. Honorary pallbearers were O.L. Luke, 
Jr.,Loyd Tucker, Jerry Edwards, Bill Wynn, J.O. Turner, Danny Sirmans, 
Oswald Whitley, and Wade Bryant.
The deceased was born April 10, 1912 in Irwin County to Daniel and Katie 
Grantham Whitley. He lived in Irwin
County most of his life and was a former employee of Luke Oil and 
Fertilizer Company and the Bay Station in Ocilla. Mr. Whitley loved 
music and was a avid guitarist. Mr. Whitley was a member of Pine Hill 
Baptist
Church.
He is survived by his wife, Lavada R. Whitley of Ocilla; 4 sons: Elie 
Carroll Whitley of Glennville; Isaac Daniel Whitley, Kaylon Whitley and
Michael Whitley, all of Ocilla; 10 grandchildren; 15 great 
grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild.
Paulk Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
