"Mickey" Paulk Mr. Milton L. "Mickey" Paulk of Fitzgerald died Tuesday, December 1, 1998,! at Hospice Atlanta. He was 76. _ Mr. Paulk was born September 4, 1922, in" Ocilla, the son of James Fletcher Paulk -'and Lorena Tyler Paulk. Mr. Paulk was retired owner and manager of Paulk Funeral Home of Fitzgerald and Ocilla. He was a member and former trustee of First Baptist Church of Fitzgerald. Mr. Paulk was recipient of the Boy Scouts. Silver Beaver Award and was past president of the Okefenokee Boys Scouts of America Council. Mr. Paulk had lived in Ocilla and Fitzgerald all of his life. He was a 1939 graduate of Fitzgerald High School,attended Mercer University and was a 1947 graduate of Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science, Pittsburgh, PA. Mr. Paulk was a veteran of WW II, U. S. Merchant Marines. He was a graduate of the Merchant Marines Academy, Kings Port, NY. Mr. Paulk was Director Emeritus, Community Bank, Fitzgerald and a deacon of First Baptist Church, charter member and past president of Ocilla Rotary Club and also was a former director of Fitzgerald Federal Savings and Loan r and Fulton Federal. He had been on the Board of Directors of the Housing Authority of Fitzgerald. Mr. Paulk was preceded in death by his wife, Madge Harper Paulk. Survivors include one son, James L. "Jimmy"Paulk of New York, NY; two daughters,Beth Thornton and Lori Nipp, both of Atlanta; two grandchildren, Emily Thornton and Drew Thornton, both of Atlanta. Services were held at First Baptist Church of Fitzgerald on Friday, December 4 at 2 p.m., with Dr. Gene Wilder and Rev. Gerald. Thomas officiating. Music was provided by organist, Marty Smith. Pallbearers were Allan B. Paulk, Mark Whitley, Jack F. Paulk,Cam Smith, Michael E. Paulk and Ralph Paulk. Honorary pallbearers were members of Georgia Funeral Director's ..Association, Community Bank Board of Directors, Class of 1939 and Employees of Paulk Funeral Home. Interment was held at Evergreen Cemetery of Fitzgerald. Paulk Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. File size: 2.5 Kb
