Sherman Worthington

Mr. Sherman Worthington of Ocilla died Saturday, October 31, 1998, 
at Osceola Nursing Home. He was 92.
Mr. Worthington was born July 1, 1906, in Richland, the son of 
Eugene and Lizzie Worthington.
He was retired manager of Georgia Power Company of Ocilla.
Mr. Worthington was a member of Ocilla Baptist Church and the 
Carrie Paulk Sunday School Class. He had lived in the community since 
1939. He was a 1923 graduate of Richland High School. Mr. Worthington 
was a former Ocilla  City Councilman. He worked with Georgia Power 
Company  for 65 years. Mr.Worthington was also a Charter Member of the 
Ocilla Lions Club.
He was preceded in death by  his wife, Lib Moffett Worthington. He 
was also preceded in death by his first wife, Pearl Bishop Worthington, 
seven brothers and his best friend, Benji.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary Jane Goodman
of Fitzgerald; one son, Joe Worthingtbn of Fitzgerald; five 
grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Services were held at Ocilla Baptist Church on Tuesday,
November 3 at 11 a.m., with Rev. Robert Couey Jr, Dr, Phil Wilkes and 
Rev. Jim Franklin officiating.
Interment Was held at Ocilla Cemetery.
Paulk Funeral Home was in charge ofarrangements,
