Mrs. Velma Harper Vickers of Wray, died Sunday, December 27, 1998 at Osceola 
Nursing Home. She was 87.
Mrs. Vickers was born June 9,1991 in Irwin County the daughter of Willie Harper 
and Mary Jowers Harper.
Mrs. Vickers was a homemaker who had lived in the Wray community all of her 
life.
She attended South Georgia College and actively supported the Satilla Baptist 
Church.  She was a former Sunday School teacher.
Mrs. Vickers was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Vickers; two brothers 
Wilson and Lester Harper and one sister Mary Harper.
Survivors include two sons, Harmon Vickers of Savannah and Donald Vickers of 
Wray; two grandsons, Keith Vickers of Fort Worth Texas and Greg Vickers of 
Ambrose; two great grandchildren and one brother,Floyd Harper of Wray.
Services were held Tuesday, December 29 at 2p.m. with Rev. Dan Johnson 
officiating.
Pallbearers were Wayne Vickers, Leon Harper, Rhett Royal, Austin Harper, Bennie 
Key and Clyde Johns.
Interment was held at Satilla Cemetery of Irwin County.
Paulk Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
