"Doodle Bug" Busbin, who died February 1 at 5:29 a.m. at Tift General Hospital, were held this past Tuesday, February 3, at 2:00 p.m. at the Englewood Baptist Church in Ben Hill County. Interment followed at the church cemetery. He was 56. Rev. Bobby Stone officiated at the 2:00 p.m. service. Pianist was Janice Young and soloist was Joyce Hall. Pallbearers were: Ronnie Busbin, Dale Busbin, Tim Busbin, Daniel Young, Michael Young, Kenny Shattles, Danny Craft, and Steve Carter. Mr. Busbin was born on April 9, 1941 to Robert Lee and Polly Dowdy Busbin. He was a diesel mechanic and farmer, having worked with Luke Oil and Fertilizer in Ocilla. He had lived in Irwin and Ben Hill counties for most of his life. He was also a former resident of Albany, GA. . Besides working with Luke Oil and Fertilizer, he also had been an employee of Albany Cotton mill, Ocilla Truck and Implement, and, farmed with Mr. Marlin Bryan. He was also a former member of the Moose Lodge. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Young Busbin of Fitzgerald; one son, Danny Busbin of Wray; three daughters, Ann Fields, Carolyn Hines, and Rhonda Jenkins, all of Fitzgerald; 14 grandchildren, two great grandchildren, three brothers, Gordon Busbin and Bill Busbin of Ocilla and Buddy Busbin of Tifton; six sisters, Patricia Owens of Ocilla; Etheleen Hammock, Peggy Burk, and Myrtice McGee, all of Albany, Inez Wingate of Jackson, GA, and Mary Kendall of Norman Park, GA; two great aunts, Dolly Fletcher and Mamie Leverett, both of Ocilla, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Paulk Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Note: I was one of those numerous nephews listed above. I loved my Uncle "Doodle" with all my heart and I will sure miss him; but I know as long as his family keeps him in our hearts, he will always be with us.
