W.E. Farmer .
 The funeral services for W.E. . (Ernest) Farmer of Ocilla, who died Tuesday, 
January 28, 1997 at Tift General Hospital in Tifton, was held Thursday, January 
30, at the Ocilla Baptist Church: He was 71.
	Rev. Phil Wilkes and Rev. Jim Franklin officiated at the 3:00 p.m. 
service with interment in the  Brushy Creek Cemetery, located in  Irwin County, 
GA.
	Pallbearers were Jack Gray, Johnny Sumner, Bobby Carol Pope, Jule Ed 
Thomas, John Hudson, Larry Young, LW. Jones, and Waymon Mobley. Honorary 
pallbearers were J .W. Hudson, W.A. "Cotton" Davis, Junior Barrs, Walter 
Sumner, Harris Dill, Jr., Bobby Morris, Alfonso Owens, Murphey Rogers, Hugh 
Roberts, Kenneth Ross, W.C. Sams, Robert I Coley, Walter Tyler, Mark Sams, and 
Jerry Edwards. Organist was Sue Wilkes and soloist, Ronnie Duncan.
. The deceased was born January. 19, 1926 in Telfair County, GA to Herman 
Griggs Farmer and Cora Lee Covington Farmer. The retired owner/operator of 
Farmer's Welding Shop of Ocilla, Mr. Farmer had lived in this community for 
most of his life. He was also a Mason and a former Chairman of  the Ocilla 
Zoning Board. He was a . member of the Ocilla Baptist Church.
	He is survived by wife: Thelma J. Farmer of Ocilla; two daug.hters: 
Sherry. F. Harper of Lilburn and Esther F. Payne of Tifton; two grandchildren: 
Bryan Payne and Bridgett Payne, both of Tifton; two brothers: Jerry Farmer and 
Elvin Farmer, both of Ocilla; and two nieces: Joy Sailers of Carrollton and Kay 
Farmer of Ocilla.	.
Paulk Funeral Home of Ocilla was in charge of arrangements.
