Thompson of Ocilla, who died Tuesday, February 10, 1998, was held Thursday, February 12 in Ocilla United Methodist Church. She was 78. Rev. Kirk Loyless officiated at the 11:00 a.m. service with interment in Whitley Cemetery in Irwin County . Pallbearers were Albert Raffield, Clauye McCranie, Joe Portier, Larry Young, Jule Ed Thomas. Nelson Paulk and Harvey Davis. Organist was Jean Dent; pianist was Irma Young and soloist, Charles Purvis.. The deceased was born April 2,1919 in Irwin County to Samuel and Bessie Jape Taylor Paul. A homemaker and widow of Charles H. Thompson, member of Ocilla United Methodist Church, Mrs. Thompson had lived in Irwin. County most of her life and was a former employee of Delta's Dime Store, Fitzgerald and a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Osceola Chapter. She was a former member of the Pink Ladies and Past Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star and Mother Advisor of the Rainbow Girls Roswell. She is survived by two daughters: Jean P. Biggers of Ocilla and Faye P. Williford of Rochelle; one brother, Willie Paul of Ocilla; one sister: Odell Raffield of Warner Robins; 3 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
