Wm. Daniel by the Power of Attorney dated May 7, 1796 for and in consideration of the sum of $155 in Spanish Milled dollars before the delivery of these presents hath granted, sold, released and confirmed all that part of a tract of land containing 142 ½ acres being part of that tract of 2875 acres originally granted to John Garrett bounding as follows, joining Knight land on the North, John Garrett on the East and Widow Strickland on the West, on the South side unknown land, the same lying on the Waters of Sandy Creek including the Plantation whereon John Chapman now lives which land tract was legally sold by James R. Whiting, Tax Collector for taxes due thereon, John Garrett being the highest bidder, the said tract of land was knocked off to him.
