Witnesseth that the said Samuel Hemphill and Elizabeth Hemphill his wife for and in consideration of the sum of eight hundred dollars, lawful money of said state to him in hand well and truly paid by the said Radford Ellis at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath granted, bargained, sold, released and confirmed and by these presents doth grant, bargain, sell, release and confirm unto the said Radford Ellis, his heirs and assigns, all that tract of land containing two hundred and thirty acres, more or less, being and lying in the County of Jackson & State aforesaid on the Apalacha River beginning and bounded by lands belonging to Micajah Williamson - beginning at a corner Gum thence North 60.E.38 chains to a hickory corner. Thence North 30.W.60 chains & 50 links to a pine – thence W.38 chains to a pine on the river and from thence to the begining together with all (&) singular, the rights, members and appurtenances thereof whatsoever, to the said tract of land being, belonging, or in any wise appertaining and the remainder & reversions, rents issues & profits thereof and every part thereof to have and to hold the said tract of land and all and singular the premises and appertenances thereunto belonging as aforesaid, and every part hereunto the said Radford Ellis his heirs and assigns to the only proper use and benefit and behoof of the said Radford Ellis his heirs and assigns forever. And the said Samuel Hemphill and Elizabeth Hemphill his wife, and their heirs, that tract of land and premises aforesaid and every part thereof unto the said Radford Ellis and his heirs and assigns against them the said Samuel Hemphill and his heirs and all and every other person or persons whatsoever shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents.
