Stokes, Deputy Tax Collector for Jackson County of the one part and Bailey Sparks of Jackson County of the other part. An act of Assembly of the year 1797 which execution was levied on a tract of land granted in the name of James Stewart but given in by Jesse Sparks as Trustee for the widow and orphans of Matthew Sparks (dec.) containing 100 acres lying in the County of Jackson, the land being duly advertised and on August 6, 1798 Bailey Sparks being the highest bidder became the purchaser for the sum of $4.75 dollars. I hereby acknowledge, have this day sold unto the said Bailey Sparks the above tract of land lying in Jackson County on Big Shoal Creek, granted as above and joining John Hodge, Absolon Sparks and others.
