Their first meeting was held on 7 Mar 1874.The following served on the Board: 1874 Hartwell Jackson, Thomas L. Ross, L. Gilleland; 1875-1876 William Seymore, W. J. Haynie, W. G. Steed; 1877 J. H. Reinhardt, F. S. Segars, S. S. Smith, T. H. Niblack served as Clerk. Board dissolved by Act of the Legislature 24 Feb 1877. In 1901 the General Assembly of GA approved an Act creating another Roads and Revenue Board. The Act was amended in 1903 allowing the people to elect the members instead of being appointed under the 1901 Act. Members of the Board were: 1902-1903 W. P. DeLaperriere, Chairman, G. E. Deadwyler, A. R. Braselton; 1904 F. L. Pendergrass, Chairman, A. R. Braselton, W. P. DeLaperriere; 1905 F. L. Pendergrass, Chairman, W. B. Matth4ws, C. M. Porter; 1906-1908 F. L. Pendergrass, Chairman, C. M. Porter, H. C. Barnett; 1909-1912 A. R. Braselton, Chairman, D. R. Marlow, T. T. Stapler; 1913 A. R. Braselton, Chairman, W. W. Hancock, L.D. Nickelson. By an Act in 1902 the office of Supt. of Roads, better known as Civil Engineer, was created. T. Jack Bennett served in this position until 1912. George D. Appleby succeeded him.
