All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/ga/gafiles.htm *********************** This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: Rebecca Bunce James Wheeler Revolutionary War Pension Application/Affadavit File Number: 32064 Filed: 07 Dec 1832 in Jackson County Georgia Georgia Superior Court I entered the Army of the United States as a drafted militiaman in Loudoun County Virginia in the month of February(1780/1) in Captain John Henry's Company and to the best of his recollection under Colonel Frances Peyton and joined Lafayette at Richmond, Virginia and continued under his command to Yorktown when General Washington took the command. Was in no battles but was in several skirmishes. He continued in service six months. He was born in Loudoun County VA in the year 1758. His uncle in the state of Kentucky has a record of his age. He was living in Loudoun County when he entered the service and continued to live there three years after the service. From thence to Greenville County, South Carolina where he continued to reside about 40 years and from thence to Jackson County, Georgia where he has resided ever since. He named James Hodge as a neighbor to whom reference can be made for his character for veracity and their belief in his service as a soldier of the Revolution.
