Bennie Robert Cox, 86, of Winterville, died Sunday, August 20, 2006.

A native of Jackson County, he was the son of the late John and Sara Cox. He 
was retired from the Athens-Clarke County Sanitation Department and was 
Baptist. Mr. Cox was preceded in death by his wife, Jossie Mae Robinson.

Survivors include sons, Larry Cox and David Cox, both of Danielsville, and 
Bennie Cox, Colbert; daughters, Lois Bales, Danielsville, and Shirley Moon, 
Hull; 16 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-
grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 23, at Bible Baptist Church with 
the Rev. Robert Garrett officiating. Burial was in the Jackson Memorial Park 
Cemetery. 

Pallbearers were Terry Bales, Raymond Cox, Scott Cox, David Cox, Daniel Bales 
and Chris Kotal.

Bernstein Funeral Home, Athens, was in charge of arrangements.
