Some ten days ago he was attacked with pneumonia brought on by an attack of Spanish influenza. As a leading layman of the Baptist church, Dr. Hardman was known all over the state. At the time of his death, he was president of the board of trustees of Mercer university, president of the First National bank of this place, president of the city board of education, the most active surgeon of the Hardman sanitarium. He was a business man of unusual judgment and ability. He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Wilda Hardman Potea, of Pekin, China; Miss Elizabeth Hardman, student at Shorter, and two small daughters. He is also survived by his brothers, Dr. L G Hardman, T C Hardman and J B Hardman, of Commerce, and P L Hardman, of Atlanta, and two sisters, Mrs. W L Williamson, of Commerce, and Mrs. G T Jones, of Atlanta.
