NEWTON OLDHAM The Banner, Athens, GA, Friday morning, November 14, 1902 Dod: November 11, 1902 MR. NEWTON OLDHAM DIED TUESDAY Funeral Was Held Wednesday In Jackson County Yesterday morning at eleven o’clock at this home on Prince avenue, Mr. Newton Oldham, son of Mr. J. S. Oldham, passed away after an illness of two weeks with typhoid fever. The death of Mr. Oldham was peculiarly sad in that he was the third member of his family to die within the past three months. His sister, Miss Genie Oldham died August 20th, and his mother was laid to rest a month ago. His sister, Miss Lona Oldham, is now ill at the home of her uncle, Mr. John N. Booth, on the Boulevard, but is getting better. Mr. Oldham was twenty-one years of age and unmarried. He had many friends in this city who will sincerely mourn his death, and to his bereaved relatives their deepest sympathies are extended. The remains of Mr. Oldham were interred Wednesday at the family burial grounds in Jackson county. Transcribed by C. Epps Bond March 24, 2006.
