Bonner Aug 2002 Lyle Family Burial Ground http://files.usgwarchives.net/ga/jackson/photos/tombstones/lylefamilyburial/mahergrv.txt MAHER SHALAL HASHBAZ LYLE Some say his birth name was Robert and he changed his name to Maher Shallal Hashbaz Lyle; recorded in the Bible record data in possession of Mrs. Q.W. Arwood, Jackson Co. GA. Maher is said to be of the family of Lyle who moved from Scotland to County Antrim, Northern Ireland, living in the vicinity of Larne. Maher is said to have three immigrant brothers named Matthew, John and Daniel. Born March 14, 1736 in Scotland. He was a Revolutionary War veteran and was with Washington at the surrender of Cornwallis at Yorktown. He is the Lyle who served with Washington in Virginia; it states that on his grave marker. He married Elizabeth Gibson in 1763 in Virginia and moved down through the Carolinas and on to Georgia. He came from Halifax Co. VA to Union Co. SC To Jackson Co. GA and settled at Mulberry Station in 1786. He died in Jackson Co. GA January 30, 1814. The old family burial ground is in Jackson County near what was the Mulberry River and the old settlement of Mulberry.
