Will of William Morgan 17 Oct 1863 Jackson County, GA Last Will and Testament of William Morgan, Jackson Co., GA In the name of God amen. I WILLIAM MORGAN of said state and county being that I must shortly depart this life and being of sound and disposing mind and memory deem it right and proper holy as respects my family and myself that I should make a disposition of the property with which a kind Providence has blessed me do therefor make this my last will and testament hereby revoking all others heretofore made by me. Item 1st. I desire and direct that my body be buried in a Christian and decent like manner suitable to my circumstance in life. Item 2nd. I deem and direct that all my just debts be paid without delay by Executor hereafter appointed. Item 3. I will and bequeath to my beloved wife ORRA for and during her natural life two choice negros to be selected by herself from those owned by me at my death. I also will and bequeath to her my faithful old negro man NED about sixty years old. Item the 4th. I will and bequeath to my youngest son BENJAMIN FRANKLIN MORGAN one thousand dollars over and above his equal share of the remainder of my estate to put him on an equal footing with my oher children in regard to maintenance and education. Item 5. The remainder of my property both real and personal except one years support of provisions for my beloved wife ORRA and that part of my real estate which she's entitled to as dower in the event she elects to take dower I desire my Executor to reduce to cash. The money arising from the sale of my real estate after dower has been (*illegible*) I desire to be equally divided between my six sons CHRISTOPHER C., BLAKE B., JESSE C., DANIEL M., JAMES P. and BENJAMIN FRANKLIN MORGAN and my daughters SALIE BENETT and JOSEPHINE J. JARRETT and WILLIAM M. son of WESLY MORGAN and the children of my dead daughters ESTHER C. WILLHITE and ANGELINE A. BENETT in right of their mothers, making in all eleven parts. I desire my wife ORRA to have an equal share with the above named children in the money that arises from the sales of all personal property in addition to the specific legacy already bequeathed to her. In the event the whole of my estate both real and personal goes to sale in addition to the specific legacy already given to my wife I desire her to have one twelvth part of my entire estate except the one thousand dollars given specifically to BENJAMIN F. MORGAN. I desire and direct my executor to (*illegible*) each legatee to account to the estate for all acvancements made and to (*illegible*) up my matters as soon as may be practicable(?). Item 6. I hereby constitute and appoint my son DANIEL M. MORGAN Executor of this my last will and testament this the 17 October 1863. WM. MORGAN, L. S. HEYNE and C. W. HOOD subscribed the same as witnesses in presence of each other and in the presence of the testator at his request and that he believes he was at the time of sound and disposing mind and memory.
