Duke & Eldridge Whitehead Were present Last Thursday Night about one oclock in Evening 5 September Inst 1856 in the year of our Lord Eighteen Hundred & fifty six at the Residence of William M. Wood before his Death of the aforesaid County about Twelve hours before his Death in perfect possession of his Mental faculties he called upon us to Remember & take notice of what he Was about to say that it had been his Intention to make his Will in Writing & Dispose of his property some time before but as it was not convenient for him to do so at the time he had ? it Since he now wished us to understand that his Will & Desire Was that my Wife Elizabeth Wood to Remain on the place I now Reside & that my Son James William to have the place I now Reside and take care of his Mother - untill he becomes of age & that my Executor to keep all my property together with Exception of Enough to be sold off to pay all my Debts and Remainder to Remain on the place untill! my youngest Child becomes of age & then to be sold off and Equally Distrabution among all of them after all the Ballance of My heirs has Much of my Property to Make them Equal with my son James William who has my Place & that my Executor to Employ an Overseer & build a house on my Plantation to attend to my business & that he Requested & Desired farther James Wood to see that his wishes & Desires in this Regard should be fully carried into Effect immediately after which he Died this 9th September 1856 John R.
