Zachariah and Leonard Maddux Georgia Zachariah Maddox & Leonard Maddox vs. William Hurt To the Sheriff of Randolph County Greeting Case The defendant is hereby required to personally or by his attorney to be and appear at the next superior Court to be holden in and for the County of Randolph on the third Monday in Sept then and there to answer the demand of the plaintiff in an action in the cause to his damage two hundred dollars or in default thereof the court will here each thereon ____________(illegible for the next few words, but looks as though they are asking for witnesses and testimony) the honorable Peter Earley Egg. One of the Judges of said court. H. Walker Db. Clk Served the defendant with a true Copy from the original August 26 1809. We find for the plaintiffs fifty four dollars with interest and cost. William McCord Whereupon it is “counded” (not sure of word) by the court that the plaintiffs do recover of the defendant seventy one dollars and seventy nine cents for his damages adjudged to him & also the further sum of Eleven dollars fifty cents for his cost in his just said acct and “Expanded?” and the defendants in “meray?” ___________(illegible) 23, 1810. He had trailed the mare toward the Creek Nation. His father Zachariah and Uncle Alexander swore to the accuracy of the claim filed in Jackson County.
