Letter Admn. Minute-Book C.-Page 200 Written: September 28 1866 Jasper Co., Georgia-To the Ordinary of said County. The Petition of John A. J. Spear Sheweth that Jesse Spear dec'd of said County, died without any Will, so far as he knows or believes,-That the agregate Value of his Estate is about, twenty-two hundred dollars, consisting mainly of 160 acres of land in County of Jasper-320 acres in Cherokee County, Ga. (Wild Land) and 100 acres in DeKalb County, Ga.- One horse, 1 mule, cows, hogs, sheep, plantation implements, wagon and household and Kitchen furniture,-That said Estate is Unrepresented, and your Petitioner hereby makes application for Letters of Administration on said Estate as heir as law-That he is a Citizen of the United States A resident of the County and State & of lawful age. This 28th, day of Sept. 1866 John A. J. Spear Nov. 4th, 1866 Isbell made application for 12 months support out of Estate of said deceased for self and one minor child and household and kitchen furniture. Isbell Spear Jasper Court of Ordinary-Nov. Term 1866 Upon hearing the above Petition of John A. J. Spear making application for Letters of Administration on the Estate of Jesse Spear, Late of said County deceased, and it appearing to the Courts, that upon said application citation issued from this office and was published for thirty days-in the Georgia Enterprise, a public Gazette published in Covington, Georgia calling upon all persons concerned, to show cause if any if they had at this term of the Court, why said Letters should not issue to the Applicant-and no sufficient cause having been shown to the contrary, this ordered, that said John A. J. Spear, the Applicant, be and he is here by appointed Administrator on the Estate of said Jesse Spear dec'd upon his entering into bond and security in the sum of Five Thousand Dollars and taking the Oath precribed by law and upon his so doing that, Letters of Administration do issue to his, and it is further ordered that Wm. G. Lane, Jubil Cochran, Wmson P. Middlebrooks, Ellis Cheek, and E. R. Roberts, be and they are hereby appointed appraises of said Estate. Jasper Court of Ordinary-Nov. Term 1866 Upon hearing the application of Isbel Spear, Widow of Jesse Spear dec'd for the appointment of appraisers to set apart to herself and one minor child a twelve months support-It is ordered that Wm. G. Lane, Jubil Cochran, Wmson P. Middlebrooks, Ellis Cheek, and E. R. Roberts, or any three of them, after having been duly Sworn to a performance of their duty and after having taken into consideration the circumstances and and condition of the family and Estate of said Jesse Spear dec'd do proceed to set apart to said Widow and minor child, a twelve months support, either in money or such property as the Widow may select, at a fair valuation to be assessed by them: and also, to set apart for the use of said widow and minor child, a sufficiency of household and kitchen furniture and make Return to the Ordinary of said County within three months from the dates of their appointment, a schedule of such money or property, and household and kitchen furniture so set apart, property certified to under their hands and official signatures.
