This Indenture made this thirteenth day of November in the year of our Lord one 
thousand eight hundred and thirteen between John Carter of the County of Jasper 
of the one part and Solomon Gross of the state & county aforesaid of the other 
part. Witnesseth that the said John Carter for and in consideration of Five 
hundred dollars to him in hand paid at & before the sealing and delivery of 
these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted 
bargained sold aliened conveyed & confirmed unto the said Solomon Gross his 
heirs and assigns forever all that certain part of land containing one hundred 
& ten acres be the same more or less being part of lot No. 188 situated lying & 
being in the County of Jasper formerly Baldwin beginning at a pine corner 
thence running S45W10 chains and twenty links tra red oak thence with the 
meanders of a Branch follows through said lot N.60W80 chains to a maple thence 
N70W86 chains to a 26 Oak thence N80W16 chains to a dogwood thence N70W80 
chains and 50 links to a pine thence N60 to 10 chains and 40 links to and From 
woods on the original line of said lot thence No.45E to a dogwood and thence 
along the original line to the beginning corner bounded by Solomon Gross lying 
on the eighteenth district. To have and to hold the said parcel of land with 
all and singular the rights members and appurtenances thereof whatever to the 
said parcel of land being belonging or in anywise appertaining with the 
remainder and remainders reversion & reversions rents issues and profits 
thereof to the only proper use benefit and behoof of him the said Solomon Gross 
his heirs forever in fee simple and the said John Carter his heirs executors & 
administrators the said bargained parcel of land unto the said Solomon Gross 
his heirs executors administrators and assigns against the said John Carter his 
heirs executors & administrators & all and every other person or persons shall 
& will warrant and forever defend by virtue of these presents. In witness 
whereof the said John Carter hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his Seal 
the day & year first above written
