This Indenture made this fourteenth day of December Eighteen hundred and 
Eighteen between James Grace and Mary Grace his wife of the one part and 
Pleasant Compton of the other part Witnesseth that for and in the consideration 
of the sum of Seventeen hundred Dollars the rec’t whereof is hereby 
acknowledged have bargained and sold unto the said Pleasant Compton his heirs 
and assigns all that tract, Lot, or parcel of Land situate lying and being in 
the County aforesaid in the Seventeenth District of Baldwin formerly now Jasper 
County which Lot or parcel of land is known and distinguished in the plan of 
said District by number Seventy One containing Two hundred two and one half 
acres be the same more or less which Lot or parcel of Land I James Grace and 
Mary Grace my wife do covenant and agree to warrant the titles thereof free 
from the lawful claim or claiming of all and every person or persons whatsoever 
unto the said Pleasant Compton his heirs and assigns forever unto their only 
proper use benefit and behoof forever in fee simple. In witness whereof we have 
hereunto set our hands and affixed our seals this day and date above written
