This Indenture made this the twenty sixth day of September eighteen hundred & 
forty nine, between Ellison Gross of the same State & County aforesaid, of the 
one part, and William F. Flournoy of the same State & County aforesaid, of the 
other part, Witnesseth that the said Ellison Gross, for & in consideration of 
the sum of four hundred & fifty dollars, to him in hand paid at and before the 
sealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof is hereby 
acknowledged, hath granted bargained sold & [delivered is struck through] do 
by these presents convey unto the said William F. Flournoy his heirs & assigns 
ninety one & a fourth acres of land, it being the South half, except ten acres 
of lot No. (175) one hundred & seventy five, being in the Seventeenth District 
originally Baldwin, now Jasper County, and State aforesaid, & do by these 
presents Sell grant bargain & convey unto William F. Flournoy his heirs & 
assigns together with all & singular the rights members & appurtenances 
thereof to the same in any manner belonging to his and their own proper use 
benefit & behoof forever in fee simple & said Ellison Gross for himself his 
heirs executors and administrators, the said bargained premises unto the said 
William F. Flournoy his heirs and assigns will warrant & forever defend the 
right & title thereof against themselves & against the claims of all other 
persons whatsoever. In Witness whereof the said Ellison Gross hath hereunto 
set his hand & seal the day & year above written.
