Know all men by these presents, that I, John Maxey of Jasper County & said 
State, for divers good causes- and consideration, me thereunto moving, have 
this day made constituted, and appointed, and by these presnets, do make, 
constitute & appoint William Maxey of said last mentioned County and State, my 
attorney in fact, for me, and in my name to sell and dispose of my property, 
both real, and personal, situate and being in said State of all and every 
description of which the same may consist, and to receive payment for the 
same, and to Execute all necessary Deeds, Bills of Sale, or other instruments 
of transfer that he may deem in his discretion proper and expedient in the 
disposition of my property and with the proceeds of such sale, to pay off, and 
discharge my debts, at his discretion, with or without said and I also empower 
my said attorney, to execute an Mortgage, or Mortgages in my name, for the 
securing the debt of any of my creditors, on such of my property as he may 
choose to convey by Mortgage, and to employ an overseer, or overseers to 
manage my farming interests, and any number of agents or attorneys in fact, or 
at law that he may deem necessary, for the better conducting of m business- 
And to do any and all acts in relation to my said property that I might do, 
lawfullly myself and I do hereby ratify and confirm whatsoever my said 
attorney may do in the premises. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my 
hand and seal- This 5th day of August 1846
