This Indenture made this Twenty seventh day December in the year of of (sic) 
our Lord eighteen hundred and forty seven, between James H. Montgomery of the 
County and State aforesaid, of the one part and Thomas Loyd of the same place, 
of the other part Witnesseth that the said James H. Montgomery for and in 
consideration of the sum of five Dollars, to him, in hand paid, at and before 
the sealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof is hereby 
acknowledged, hath granted, bargained sold and conveyed and doth by these 
presents grant, bargain, sell and convey unto the said Thomas Loyd his heirs 
and assigns, all that tract or parcel of land, situate lying and being in the 
County aforesaid, but originally in Baldwin County in the nineteenth District 
of said County, containing one fourth of an acre, being part of lot number 175 
originally granted to [blank space] said Grant being dated the [blank space] 
of [blank space] Eighteen hundred and [blank space] said quarter of an acre 
cornering on the north west line, between George Loyd and said Jas. H. 
Montgomery and at the distance of one hundred and sixty seven yards from the 
South West termination of said line, at a stick corner, thence vez at right 
angle to said line thirty five yards, thence at right angles to this line, 
thirty five yards, thence at right angles to this line and p_____ to the first 
line thirty five yards, thence at right angles to the beginning corner thirty 
five yards- To have and to hold said tract or parcel of land unto him the said 
Thomas Loyd, his heirs and assigns, together with all and singular the rights, 
members, and appertenances thereof, to the same in any manner belonging, to 
his and their own proper use, benefit and behoof forever in fee simple  And 
the said James H. Montgomery for himself, his heirs, executors and 
administrators, the said bargained premises, unto the said Thomas Loyd, his 
heirs and assigns, will warrant and forever defend, the right and title 
thereof, against themselves and against the claim of all other persons- 
whatsoever- In Witness whereof the said James H. Montgomery, hath hereunto set 
his hand and affixed his seal, the day and year above written.
