MRS. JNO. THORNTON DIES
     Following an illness of sometime, Mrs. Jno. Thornton, aged 74 years, 
passed away at her home at Mechanicsville, Thursday morning.
     The funeral was conducted from Prospect Methodist Church, of which Mrs. 
Thornton was a member. The  funeral was conducted by the pastor, Rev. J. D. 
Gresham, of Shady Dale, Friday morning at ten o’clock. Interment was in the 
cemetery near by.
      Surviving Mrs. Thornton are her husband, three children, Mrs. R. L. 
Oxford, of Monticello, Miss Capers Thornton and Mr. Farris Thornton, of 
Mechanicsville.
