Mrs. W. A. White, 71 years of age, died at the family residence in this city, 
at 3:10 o'clock Wednesday morning after a protracted illness. The news of her 
death, while not unexpected, came as a shock to host of relatives and friends.
   Mrs. White was the former Miss Love Jane Allen, daughter of Harrison Allen 
and Mrs. Mary Price Allen, outstanding citizens of this county.
   She was a consecrated member of Mount Zion Christian Church, located in the 
western part of the county. Her long life was interwoven with the activities 
not only of her church but the affairs of the Mechanicsville community where 
she spent the greater portion of her life before moving to Monticello several 
years ago.  In temperament she was mild and candid, generous, loyal---
altogether a woman of the sweetest and most admirable attributes of character. 
Truly, her life was an inspiration for good amongst a large number of neighbors 
and friends who, without a doubt will miss her.
  Funeral services will be held this Thursday morning at 11 o'clock at Mt Zion 
Church, the Reverend Charles H. Tucker, of Perry, officiating. He will be 
assisted by the Reverend Clifton A. Forrester, pastor of the Monticello Baptist 
Church.  Interment will be in the church cemetery near-by with Reuben Jordan 
and Bro., funeral directors, in charg
