FINCHER HEIRS TO JOHN C. WATTERS-JASPER CO. DEED, JANUARY 2, 1850

Fincher Heirs to John C. Waters-Jasper Co. Deed-January 2, 1850, Book D. pg. 514

This Jasper Co. deed is one of several regarding the estate of John Fincher of 
Newton County. Though an estate is not mentioned in these deeds, ten of the 
eleven children named in his will(Newton Co.-Book 3, pp. 60-61)-or their 
spouses, are shown here, and in those other deeds, likely after the death of 
his widow, Nancy Fincher in Jasper Co. Leonard C. Fincher was given letters of 
administration-with will annexed in Jasper about Sept/Oct 1849. This copy of 
the will might be found among the “loose papers” of Jasper Co. at the State 
Archives. An original copy is among those papers filed in Newton Co., in a 
Probate Court folder, as organized by John I. Bruno. An administrative bond of 
widow Nancy Fincher is also there(see Newton Co. GenWeb items). The “heirs” 
listed in the Jasper Co. deeds are in the same order as in John Fincher’s will, 
likely according to their ages. I descend from the “missing man” James(perhaps, 
James Andrew)Fincher, whose children Margaret J. and John L.(Lumpkin)Fincher 
were raised by his brother John Jackson Fincher[as listed separately on his 
1850 and 1860 Jasper Co. censuses]. John L. Fincher married Arra Ann Dearing in 
1862 in Jasper Co. and moved to Butts Co. near his father-in-law, Thomas J.
