Wedding In Monticello
Miss Alice Newton Married to Col. W. P. Davis 

Monticello, July 1-[Special]-The most delightful wedding ever solemnized in 
Monticello came off at 9 o'clock last evening at the Methodist church. The 
high contracting parties were Miss Alice Newton and Col. W. P. Davis.
The bride is one of the most popular ladies of the town, and the groom a 
rising young lawyer who has made his home in  Monticello for the last four 
years. 
The ceremony was performed in a beautiful and impressive manner by the Rev. 
Samuel A. Burney of Madison.
The church was handsomely decorated with flowers and evergreens. One large 
arch, under which the wedding party stood, was built across the church. Two 
small arches with gates, kept by flower girls, closed the entrance to each 
aisle.
The bridesmaids, twelve in number, were dressed six in pink and six in blue. 
The twelve groomsmen were dressed in the regulation full dress. Prof. 
Cernwell played the wedding march.
The church was crowded to overflowing.
After the ceremony the wedding party repaired to the home of the bride's 
brother-in-law, Capt. L. W. Roberts, where the wedding supper was served.
