Will Book C Pages 259-260 Written: 1812 Will of Radford Ellis State of Georgia Randolph County In the name of God amen. I Radford Ellis, of the County of Randolph & State of Georgia being in proper health of body & in a perfect state of mind & memory, thanks be to God & calling to mind the mortality of my body & knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, I do make and ordain this my last will, testament (that is to say) principally & first of all, I give & recommend my soal unto the hands of God who gave it & my body I recommend to the Earth to be buried in a decent Christian burial at the discretion of my friends & executors, nothing doubting, but at the general resurrection, I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God. And as touching such worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this life, I give demise and dispose of the same in the following manner & form - First of all, I give & bequeath unto Elizabeth Ellis, my dearly beloved wife, the whole of my earthly estate both real & personal, during the term of her widowhood, to use, conduct & fully to enjoy the same unmolested, for the benefit of herself and family. 2nd Immediately after my wife’s marriage or death, the estate both real and personal to be sold to the highest bidder unless an amicable settlement can be made without such sale which will give an equal division or share & share alike, my children named as followeth: William Ellis, I do cut off with leaving him one dollar, also my daughter Amy Ellis, married to James Stanley, I cut off with one dollar, my daughter Lucy McKissick, I cut off with one dollar & also my grand children named as followeth: Radford Berry and Presley Allen Berry to be paid one hundred dollars each by my executors, when they come of age, my son James Ellis , Elizabeth Ellis and John Ellis, I give my daughter Elizabeth Ellis one negro boy named Nelson, one horse , saddle & bridle, one bed and furnishings, two cows and calves, and after death or marriage of my wife, the estate to be divided, between my two sons, that is to say James Ellis and John Ellis. I do also constitute, ordain & appoint my beloved wife Elizabeth Ellis, Executrix and my son James Ellis, and William Ellis, son of my brother William Ellis, executors of this my last will and testament. I do herby ratify and confirm this to be my last will and testament & no other heretofore made. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal & acknowledged in presence of Daniel Smith J.P.
