Will of Sarah Slaughter 02 Sep 1844 Jasper County, GA Jasper Co., GA, Will Book 2, pp. 666-667 Ordinary Office Jasper County Georgia Georgia Jasper County In the name of God Amen. I Sarah Slaughter being in a low state of health and knowing it is once appointed for all human beings to die do make this my last will and testament in manner and form following. Item 1st I give and bequeath unto my son Henry Slaughter one grey mare one red bedstead red chest and table. Item 2nd I give and bequeath unto my daughter Sarah Jane Slaughter two first choice beds and bed clothes and fifty dollars in cash to purchase bedsteads (&c ?) so as to make her share equal to my daughter Mary Ann Hudson. Item 3rd I give and bequeath unto my daughter Cynthia Elmira Slaughter two 2nd choice beds and bed clothes, and fifty dollars in cash to purchase bedsteads (&c ?) so as to make her share equal to my daughter Mary Ann Hudson. Item 4th I give and bequeath unto my son Andrew [?] Slaughter one sorrel colt and fifty dollars in cash so as to make his share equal to my son Henry. Item 5th I give and bequeath unto my son Thomas Slaughter one bay mare colt and twenty five dollars in cash so as to make his share equal to my son Henry. Item 6th I wish my just debts to be paid and if there should be any thing over after my children takes what I have willed to them, my wish is for to be equally divided amongst all my children. Item 7th I appoint Thomas K. Slaughter my executor to carry into effect this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 2nd day of September 1844. Broddus and Richard the subscribing witnesses to said will and being duly sworn depose and say that the foregoing writing they saw signed published and declared by the testator to be her last will and testament and that they in her presence and in the presence of each other signed the same as witnesses and that at the time of signing publishing and declaring the same, the said Sarah Slaughter was of sound disposing mind and memory.
