                    Carlton Odell Rowell
 Carlton Odell Rowell, 55, died early this morning at Memorial Hospital after 
an extended illness.
 He worked for Gibbs Construction Co. for 20 years and was a member of Liberty 
Baptist Church of Hazlehurst.
 He served in the US Army in the Korean War and was a member of Disabled 
American Veterans (DAV).
 Mr. Rowell was born in Hazlehurst but had resided in Waycross for a number of 
years. His father was the late Riley Lee Rowell.
 He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Betty Rowell, Waycross; a stepson, Michael 
Wyatt, Marion, NC; his mother, Mrs. Cleo Carey, Waycross; five sisters, Alma 
Sweat, Lois Beaty, Lurlyne Chancey, and Carletta Brookshire, all of Waycross 
and Pearlie Mae Steverson, St. Marys; a brother, Offie Rowell, Waycross; a 
stepbrother, D. L. Wooten, Hazlehurst; and three stepgrandchildren.
 Funeral will be Sunday at 2pm at Liberty Baptist Church in Hazlehurst. Burial 
will be in the church cemetery.
 The family will receive friends Saturday night from 7-9pm at Miles-Odum 
Funeral Home.

                      Carlton Odell Rowell
 Funeral for Carlton Odell Rowell, 55, who died Friday, was held Sunday 
aftrenoon at Liberty Baptist Church near Hazlehurst.
 Officiating were the Rev. Calvin Rowland, the Rev. M. L. Ricks, and the Rev. 
Carl Roland.
 Burial was in the church cemetery with Herman McCarty, Billy Ray Brown, 
Carlos Carter, Henry Byrd, H. T. Clark and Dan Bryant serving as pallbearers.
 Men of the church served as honorary pallbearers.
 Miles-Odum Funeral Home was in charge.
