Go 1.4 miles from where Road 109 and Road 296 cross in Stapleton. Turn right on a dirt road, now named Clark Road. Go 0.4 miles and there is a house on the right. The grave site is between the house and the road not more that 25 to 30 ft from the road. Ananias Beckworth 1814-1874 NOTES: Ananias was buried in the front yard of his old home place. My first visit to the site was in Jan 1979 along with my father Bobbie Lewis, my uncle Hancel and my son Michael (Mike). It was a bitter cold windy day but we were able to cover the grave site with a 4'w x 6'l x 4" thick cement slab. We also placed a small cement marker that looked like it had been inscribed with a nail on the slab and a stainless steel marker inbeded in the slab with "Ananias Beckworth, 1814-1874" stamped on it. In 1994 James Maxwell Beckworth, a Great-grandson on Ananias' second wife, Jane Davis' branch of the family, and myself , placed a permanent marble head and foot stone at the site. We felt something a little more permanent should be put there instead of just the cement marker inscribed with a nail. There has always seemed to be some question about his exact date of his birth and death. Everyone agreed on the Month and Year so those were all we put on the marble. Additional note: This tombstone is also recorded in the Perdue Cemetery posted on-line. http://files.usgwarchives.net/ga/jefferson/cemeteries/perducem.txt ANANIAS BECKWORTH February 17, 1817 April 21, 1871
