MARGARET B. TRAVIS Died January 13, 1977 Age 88 NELLIE WILLIAMS -------------------------- Acknowledgements Though the idea began as a primary research project in Wrens High's Grammar and Composition II Class, the final product is hardly our own. As cemeteries were transcribed, a format for the publication was designed. Then Rhonda Howard, Carolyn Hadden, and VOT students typed rough drafts, journalism students edited, and students in grades seven through twelve alphabetized with parents assisting in each activity. At this point community concern and civic pride increased the quality of the work. A state highway employee provided maps, which were later printed by Clipper Publishers. Thiele Kaolin Typists produced camera- ready content of the cemeteries while typists at First State Bank, Georgia Power, and interested adults using a typewriter from Huber typed the preface and alphabetized names. The Atwell's Pecan Products typists then provided a camera-ready index with page and cemetery numbers. From the school administration's approval to a registry ready for press, Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Stephens boosted our confidence, checked out printing possibilities, and publicized our project. This community assistance has illustrated to us one fringe benefit of the activity -- one's own worth can be increased simply by doing something for the privilege of doing it.
