Dr. James G. Stertz and the Rev. David Green officiated. Burial was in the Church cemetery. Mr. McNair had served as Stapleton's Postmaster for the past 36 years. He was a native of Jefferson County. He was a member of Stapleton Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was a member of the Georgia Alumni Society, the American Legion, Jefferson County and the National Association of Postmaster of the United States. He was a major in the Eight Army Air Force in World War II. Survivors include his wife Faye Kitchens McNair; three daughters, Dolly Pennington, Matthews, Marilyn Rose Purvis, Wrens, and Evelyn Raye Rabun, Tennille, a son Sam C. S. McNair, Atlanta; and a sister Evelyn McNair Shaefer, Augusta. Source; Page 2 C The News and Farmer Thursday, December 19, 1985.
