Services were held from the Stapleton Baptist Church with the Rev.'s Ronnie Durham, John Barrett and Harry Williams officiating. Burial was in the Stapleton Church Cemetery. He was a native of Jefferson County, a farmer and owner of a fertilizer and gin company in the Stapleton area for many years. He had served on the Jefferson County School Board of Trustees for several years. He was a Mason and a veteran of World War I. He was a member of the Stapleton Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. Survivors include three daughters: Mrs. Florence Flanders, Decatur; Mrs. Mildred Launis, Monroe; and Mrs. Sarah Dillon, Jr., Sao Paulo, Brazil; one son, Walter H. Stapleton, Stapleton, and one sister, Mrs. Julia S. Webb, Stapleton. Pallbearers were S. M. Kitchens, W. B. Jones, John Kilgore, James Lee Hobbs, S. W. McNair, Hubert Williford, George Peebles and W.
