Ed J. Stapleton Dies At Stapleton

Stapleton, Ga. -- Ed J. Stapleton, Sr. 61, of Stapleton, died unexpectedly 
Wednesday.

Funeral services were conducted Friday at Stapleton Baptist Church at 3:30 p. 
m. by the Rev. J. E. Cook and the Rev. Gordon Price.  Burial was in the 
Stapleton Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Marie Rivers Stapleton, three sons, Albert F. 
Stapleton, of Huntsville, Ala., Jack Stapleton of Statum and E. J. Stapleton, 
Jr. of Stapleton; three brothers, Frank Stapleton of Stapleton, Jim Stapleton 
of Dublin and Leroy Stapleton of Metter; one sister, Mrs. L. M. Durham of East 
Point; and seven grandchildren.

Mr. Stapleton was a rural mail carrier, farmer, former Jefferson County 
Commissioner, and a member of the Swainsboro Hunting Club.  He was a member of 
Stapleton Baptist Church.

Edgar Jones Stapleton born 08 July 1900 and died 22 November 1961, son of 
Albert Sidney Stapleton and Margaret Brinson Jones.  He married Marie Rivers.
