I wish my Just debts all to be paid out of my estate and then I give and bequeath to my son James Calhoun, for the good Will and affection I have for him Charles and Reuben two negro boys and three hundred and eighteen acres of land including the place where he now lives Known as the Sherman land. And for the good will and affection I have for my grand daughter Mary Tallula Calhoun, the daughter of my son William Calhoun decd and any other child or children that may be born to him, I give and bequeath the sum of fifty dollars, in cash to be paid out of my estate. And for the good will and affection I have for my daughter Martha A. L. Torrance, I give and bequeath Darcas a negro woman and her child Arnold, and three hundred and eighteen acres of land, including the marshall tract of land, for the sole benefit of her, and her children, during her natural life, and then to be equally divided, between the heirs of her body. And for the good will and affection, I have for my son Thomas S. Calhoun, I give and bequeath one negro boy named Henry and three hundred eighteen acres of land, it being a part of the Titsmmuns land including the place where he now lives. And for the good will and affection I have for my daughter Susanner W. M. Moore; I give and bequeath Chaney a negro woman and Isaac her child and three hundred eighteen acres of land, including the premises where Henry J. Moore her husband now lives, for the sole benefit of her and her children during her natural life, and then to be equally divided between the heirs of her body. And for the good will and affection I have for my son Robert M. Calhoun, I give and bequeath Emily a negro girl, and three hundred eighteen acres of land including the place where I now live, with this proviso that my wife, Martha Calhoun, shall have the use of the house or houses, and all the land on the north side of the road on which said houses now stand, during her natural life. And for the good will and affection I have for my son Jordan W. Calhoun, I give and bequeath John a negro boy and three hundred eighteen acres of land including my old settlement on the River tract of land. And for the good will and affection I have for my wife Martha Calhoun I give and bequeath Jeff and Piney her wife, and one lot of land containing four hundred and ninety acres in Lowndes county and two forty acre lots in Cherokee, all the stock of cattle in Emanuel County, and all my plantation stock of horses, cattle, household and kitchen furniture, plantation tools during her natural life, and at her death the two negroes Jeff and Piney and the lot of land in Lowndes County and the lots of land in Cherokee and the stock of cattle in Emanuel County to be equally divided among my six children now in life (viz) James, Martha A. L., Thomas S., Susan W. M., Robert M., and Jordan W., share and share alike, and upon the same conditions that the former bequeaths were made, and my plantation stock of horses, cattle, hogs, household and kitchen furniture and plantation tools be equally divided between my two sons Robert M. and Jordan W. share and share alike And than lastly, I appoing Beniah S. Carswell my Executor of this my last will and testament, revoking all other last will and testaments, made or executed heretofore by me. The witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 2nd day of February 1849. Signed sealed and acknowledged in the presence of us Henry G. Garrett Green L. Fokes B. A. Moye It is my wish and desire that the foregoing will and testament shall remain in full force and virtue only so far as attired by six deed of gift that I have made to my six children (viz) James, Martha A. L., Thomas S., Susanah W. M., Robert M., Jordan W. bearing even date with this codicil hereunto annexed all of which I wish to be carried out to their true intent and meaning this 9th day of June 1849.
