I give and bequeath unto my son Esaias Fountain my negro boy by the name of William to him and his heirs forever I lend to my daughter Easter Land during her natural life my Negro girl Anica and at her death the said negro and her increase if any to be equally divided amongst the heirs of Easter Land--- I give unto my Grandson Isaac, the son of Seth Fountain, deceased my negro boy Dick I give and bequeath unto my granddaughter Rozanna, my negro girl Patience. I lend unto my beloved wife, Mary Fountain, one Sorrel mare known by the name of Blaze; one saddle and bridle; two cows and calves; one feather bed and furniture; one blue chest; one pot during her natural life and at her death to be equally divided amongst my heirs. I give and bequeath unto Enos Fountain my still. I do also leave all my property not mentioned in this will or instrument of writing to be equally divided amongst my children, the land to be sold by my executors. I also give unto the heirs of Seth Fountain deceased one feather bed and furniture and the cattle I gave to them marked with and under squar in each ear to be equally divided amongst them. I give and bequeath unto my Grandson William Fountain the son of Noah Fountain two hundred dollars if he lives to come of age; if not to be equally divided amongst my heirs. I do hereby constitute and appoint my friends Aaron Low and Jonas May Senr my Executor's to have this my last wishes and desires put into execution the aforesaid being my last desire, I wish it to be recorded at my death given under my hand and seal this the 7th day of April [1814] William "x" Fountain State of Georgia Jefferson This is to certify that Ihave thought proper to change the legacy named in my will dated the 7th day of April one thousand and fourteen, to my Grandson Isaac Fountain, he being dead, I now give and bequeath the said Legacy which was given to Isaac Fountain to my Grandson Isaac Land in the room of said dec'd and I now wish this to become a part of my last will and testament dated the 7th day of April 1814. William "x" Fountain Signed, sealed and delivered in the presence of October 2nd 1814 Georgia Jefferson County Know all men by these presents that I William Fountain of the State and County aforesaid have bequeathed all that tract of land or pacel of land with the houses and improvement adjoining the tract of land, I now live on and being part of the same tract of Land that I now live on to my beloved wife, Mary, During her natural life and to her use and benifit all her lifetime for herself. The limits and boundry of the land is well known by the path that goes from the Cross firm that runs to or by the path that goes to the road of Sarah Fountain from the thence to baggaful then up baggagut to the Still branch thence up the Still Branch to the said Cross fence or the path that goes to Sarah Fountain. Also one pot, one Duck [Dutch] ovven, one pail & one churn and one small pigan; one pair smoothing irons; one large pewter dish; two puter [pewter] basins; two puter plates; four spoon; four knives and forks; one Colender & one trumpt; two pot hooks; one set of tea cups & saucers; one sugar Canester; six Arthur bowls; one spinning wheel; one pair of cards; one bedsted; two beee hives. As Witness my hand an seal this 23rd Aug 1815 "x" his mark [William Fountain] Testators: John "x" Land Isaac Land Georgia Jefferson Co At a court of ordinary held in and for the county aforesaid on Monday the 4th day of Sept 1815. Personally came John White Wood one of the subscribing witnesses to the last will and testament of William Fountain, Senr deceased and being sworn deposeth and saith that he was present and saw William Fountain Jr. sign and acknowledge the same to be and contain his last will and Testament and that he was of sound and disposing mind and memory to the best of his knowledge and belief and that he also saw John Fields and Robert Dood sign the same in the presence of the Testator and in each others presence. Sworn to in open Court 4th Sept 1815 J.W. Wood A.Wright, Clerk Georgia Jefferson County In the Court of Ordinary for the County aforesaid 4th Sept in 1815 Personally appeared John Land one of the subscribing witness to the written bequest of William Fountain Sr. and being duly sworn saith that he was present and did see the said William Fountain sign his name (by making his mark) to the within Instrument of writing and declare the same to be his act and ceed for the proper thereinmentioned; and that he was of sound and disposing mind and memory and that Isaac Land together with this deponent. Subscribed their names thereto in the presence of the devisor and in each others presence. Sworn to in open Court this 4th Day Sept 1815 John "x" Land A. Wright, Clerk Georgia Jefferson County At a court of Ordinary held in and for the county aforesaid on the Monday the 4th day of Sept 1815. Personally came Aney Fountain one of the subscribing witnesses to the annexed codicil to the last will and testament of William Fountain Senr deceased and being duly sworn depsoeth and saith that he was present and saw William Fountain sign and acknowledge the same to be a part of his contain his last will and testament and that he was of sound and dispoing [mind] to the best of his knowledge & belief, mind and memory and this deponent also saw mark " Wood sign the same in the presence of the Testator and in the presence of each other. Married Mary (born ? 1737) William was the sone of John Fountain born 1693, Prince George Co VA and died 1764 Edgecombe Co NC. Married to Ann Bruce. William was named in his father's will.
