Will of Bryant Lamb, 1854, Jefferson Co. GA Submitted by Sara Marsh Bridges sara_b7@yahoo.com WILL OF BRYANT LAMB Made: January 6, 1854 Probated: September 7, 1857 WILL GEORGIA JEFFERSON COUNTY In the name of God, Amen, I Bryant Lamb, of said State and County, being of advanced age, and knowing I must shortly depart this world, deem it right and proper, both as respect myself and my family that I should make a disposition of the property with which a kind Providence has blessed me. I, therefore, make this my last will and testament, hereby revoking and annulling all others, heretofore, made by me. Item First: I desire and direct that my body be buried in a decent and Christian like manner suitable to my circumstances and condition. My soul, I trust shall return to rest with God who gave it, as I hope for eternal salvation through the blessed Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, whose religion I have possessed, and as I humbly trust, enjoyed thirty years. Item Second: I desire and direct that all my just debts be paid without delay, by my Executors, hereinafter named as I am unwilling my creditors should be delayed of their rights, especially as there is no necessity for delay. Item Third: I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Maria with whom I have lived one lot of land containing three hundred and fifty acres more or less, lying on the west side of pond drain, during her widowhood, and then to my children for each to share and share alike. Item Forth: I devise to my daughter Harriet Matilda one cow and calf to her and her heirs forever. Item Fifth: I devise to my son William Silas One cow and calf to him and his heirs forever. Item Sixth: I devise to my son Eli Holland one cow and calf to him and his heirs forever. Item Seventh: I devise my daughter Ceney Frances one cow and calf to her and her heirs forever. Item Eight: I give to my brother and sisters, by deed, two hundred acres of land as represented in the deed to hold their natural lifetime, but if they each, or any of my sisters Elizabeth, Charlotte or Celia marry, her part must revert back to the Estate. Also, a bunch of hogs known as the Silas Watkins hogs to my sisters Elizabeth, Charlotte and Celia to share and share alike. Item Ninth: I bequeath all such of my property not mentioned in this my last will and testament to be sold and the proceeds to equally divided amongst my children which are now living or may here after be lawfully entitled to. Item Tenth: I constitute and appoint my worthy friend, Andrew Tarver, Executor to this my last Will and Testament this seventh day of January one thousand eight hundred and fifty four.
