Deeds of Telfair Co GA prove that David was married to Mary. In addition to their son Elisha Ward (1773- 1838), they also had sons Samuel and David Jr., as well as daughter Elizabeth Ward, the wife of Luke Bozeman, and also an unnamed daughter who married Aquilla Lowe.
