Item - My Will and desire is that my wife Penelope Wiggins and my children to wit. Nancy, Salley, Walton, Emaline, and Bethany together with my negro man Henry, have the use of my plantation, plantation tools, and stock of description, except as hereafter excepted, untill the death of my wife and in case she should die, before my son Walton, arrived at or to the age of twenty three years in that case they are to have the use of the place and stock, as aforesaid, until he arrives to the age, and then my will and desire is that my land and negro man be sold and the proceeds equally divided among all of my children, that is to say, the five already named, and my Son Michael and Daughter Elizabeth, now Elizabeth Adkins Item - I give and bequeath to my four Daughters, Nancy, Salley, Emaline, and Bethany one Feather Bed and such furniture as can be spared each and their proportion of the stock of Cattle, that is to say, one fifth part easch to be apportioned off to them, when they shall marry or arrive at twenty one years of age, by my executors, the same to these and their heirs forever Item - I give and bequeath to my son Walton, one feather bed and furniture, and as good a horse or mare as may be on the plantation, where my lands and negro are sold also all my plantation tools, and his proportion of my stock of cattle, and my stock of hogs, that is to say what may be on the plantation where he shall arrive to the age of twenty three years the same to him and to his heirs forever Item - My desire is that in case my negro man Henry should become unmanageable or so troublesome, that my Executors shall be fully convinced it should be for the best them I desire them to sell him to the best advantage, and purchase another, and put in his place, Item - My Will and desire is that all my household and kitchen furniture not disposed of by this will be equally divided between my five first named and youngest children when my son Walton arrives at the age aforesaid of twenty three years - the same to them and their heirs forever And lastly I hereby nominate and appoint my beloved son Michael Wiggins and John Love Executors to this my last will and Testament hereby revoking all former wills and Testaments by me made allowing, ratifying, and confirming this and this only to be my last will and Testament given under my hand and seal this twenty fourth day of May in the year of Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty seven. She is listed in his will. They were members of the Bark Camp Church congregation in Burke County. Many of their descendants still reside in the area.
