Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Friday, at Green Fork Baptist Church with the Rev. Jon Sullivan officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Mrs. Alexander was born in Jenkins County and was a member of Green Fork Baptist Church. She was a retired teacher in the Jenkins County School System after 38 years of service. She was greatly loved and will be missed by all who knew her. Survivors include her husband, Ronald Alexander of Perkins; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Willie Parker of Millen; two daughters, Wendy Powell and husband John, and Candy A. Gresham and husband Mark of Waynesboro; a son, Derek Alexander and his wife, Terri, of Evans; two sisters, Mildred Higginbotham and husband Edsel of Callaham, Fla., and Doris Godbee and husband Grady of Augusta. Mrs. Alexander was blessed with eight grandchildren who were the light of her life; Tyler and Kaitlin Powell, Hunter, Haley and Heath Alexander of Evans, and Lyndsey, Allyson and Jones Gresham of Waynesboro.
