Her funeral was 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 3, at the Elam Baptist Church with the Revs. Maurice Crowder and Bill Brown officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mrs. Blackburn was a lifelong resident of Jenkins County. She retired from Thomson Company after many years of service. She also retired from Jenkins County Hospital as a dietician. She was a member of Elam Baptist Church, where she was active in the Willing Workers Sunday School Class and the Senior Adult Merry Makers. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Ben Franklin Johnson and Raymond Eason Blackburn. Survivors include three sons, Franklin Johnson of Conyers and Raymond Blackburn and Randy Blackburn, both of Millen; a daughter, Brenda B. Mathern, also of Millen; a brother, Tyre Gay of Augusta; three sisters, Tommie Canady, also of Millen, Rebie Johnson of Garfield and Eris Wright of Homestead, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
