(Ret.) Charles "Punchy" Brinson died Oct. 4, 2004, after an extended illness. Funeral services will be Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004 at 11 a.m. at Oak Hill Baptist Church. Burial will follow at the Millen Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be Wednesday, Oct. 6, from 7 - 9 p.m. at Crowe-Fields Funeral Home in Millen. Mr. Brinson was a native of Jenkins County and had lived there most of his life. He retired from the U.S. Coast Guard as a Lieutenant and was also a former merchant marine. He was preceded in death by his father Pete Brinson. He is survived by his wife, Martha S. Brinson; his mother, Venita Towers, Jacksonville, Fla.; a son, Charles A.
