Mrs. Dorothy C. (Dot) Fries, 65, entered into rest Sunday, July 18, at her home surrounded by her family after a brief illness. Her funeral was 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 20, at West Millen Baptist Church with the Revs. Rowan Powell and Wayne Bray officiating. Burial was in the Millen Cemetery. She was a native of Jenkins County. She was a lifelong member of the West Millen Baptist Church and a member of the Edith Cavelle Chapter Order of the Eastern Star. She was a loving wife and mother of her family and a foster mother to numerous children. She was also a cashier-assistant manager with the Jenkins County School Food Service. Survivors include her husband of 44 years, Virgil (Shorty) Fries; a son, Talmadge Fries; and three daughters, Dianne (Charles) Havle and grandchildren, D.J. Jenkins and Brittany Havle; Wendy M. (Ronald) Waters and grandchildren, Candice Waters and Chistian Waters, all of Millen; Patricia Tharpe and grandchildren, Eleni Radford and Michaela Fries of St. Mary's. Active pallbearers were Larry Johnson, James D. Bennett, Larry Adams, Joe Hendley, James Henry, Henry Young, Dr. John Ell Hendley and Phil Cowart. Honorary pallbearers were Jenkins County Food Service workers, active and retired, and Edward Wilson.
