Johnson, 71, died Monday, Dec. 27, 2004 at East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro after a short illness. Graveside services were held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29, at the Johnson Family Cemetery with the Rev. Bobby Taylor Jr. officiating. Mr. Johnson was born in Jenkins County and was retired from the U.S. Navy after 21 years where he was a veteran of the Korean War. He was also a retired welding instructor for Swainsboro Technical College. He was a deacon for many years at Deep Creek Baptist Church and was a member of Rosemary Baptist Church.
