T. N. Pool and Martha Sturdivant Rev T N Poole was the son of Wiliam Ephraim Poole and Sarah Jane Lovett. Rev T M aka Tillman Newton Poole was born May 28, 1856 in ,Warren, Ga, and died May 28, 1931 in Near Meeks, Johnson, Ga. He married (1) Martha Sturdivant. She died Abt. 1915 in ,Emanuel, Ga. He married (2) Lizzie Sutton Aft. 1915. She was born Abt. 1900. Was a Methodist preacher at one time. Before he died, he became a Baptist preacher. a circuit preacher. Could not read or write so he wife would read the Bible at his meetings and he would preach. Lived near his half brother Florence when he died. Was walking along the road in front of the Watson place when he died. It was on the birthday of his second wife Lizzy. He chewed tobacco. Per his grandson Wade Poole: He and Wade would sleep on the front porch in the summer time on a pallet, pillow against a chair turned upside down. Lived for many years on the road going from Adrian to Meeks, near Adrian Wells and Nazarene Campground. His granddaughter Nita in Wrightsville says she thinks his name was Timothy Mason. Beth, daughter of Martha Greer in Tifton says she thinks his name might be Tillman Newton. Henry Allen Poole, son of his half brother Florence named his son Russell Tillman, so we have the name Tillman repeated. First wife of Tim or ( T.N.) was Martha Sturdivant. She had long hair, wore it up in a ball on top of her head. Always neatly dressed, wore her dresses mid knee length. Had a big cook stove, was a good cook, baked high, big biscits, was a tall woman, real sweet. She died before 1931. From Uncle TB Poole. His toombstone reads simply Rev. T. N. Pool. Buried 1931, Poplar Spgs Church Cemetery in Emanuel County. I was told one day he was in his mule and wagon going across a small creek and a bunch of hoods, hoodlums, bad boys or whatever were being mean to him. He would not resist them. Would not fight back. Just endured until they left and he could get away. Children of Rev T N Poole and Martha Sturdivant are: i. Willie Poole, born 1880. this is a female ii. Fluellen Poole, born 1885; died Bef. 1931. iii. Sr. George Cleveland Poole May10,1889;died November 20, 1965. Willie Poole (female) was born 1880 the daughter of Rev. T N Pool and Martha Sturdivant.. She married W.L. Coleman. Children of Willie Poole and W.L. Coleman are: i. Carrie Mae Coleman married Brodus Russell. Children of Carrie Coleman and Brodus Russell are: i. Bill Russell. ii. Judy Russell. ii. Walter Coleman. iii. George Clarence Coleman. Fluellen Poole daughter of Rev. T N Poole and Martha Sturdivant was born 1885, and died Bef. 1931. She married Matthew Fennell. Fluellen Poole: From Uncle TB Poole. She died about 1925, and her 2 sons Willie and Wilbur were living with Tim and Lizzy when Tim died. Wilbur would not live with Lizzy after his Grandfather Tim died, so he went to live with Myrtis Foskey. Willie lived with Lizzy until he was on his own. Children of Fluellen Poole and Matthew Fennell are: Willie Poole and Wilbur B. Poole Willie Poole son of Fluellen Poole and Matthew Fennell, was born Abt. 1913, and died in Florida. He was married to Alice Grant by R C Douglas, JP August 18, 1936 in Meeks, Johnson, Ga. She was born in Meeks, Johnson, Ga, and died in Florida. Son Roy lives in Dublin, Gene in Vero Beach, Jimmy lives in Vero Beach, Kenneth lives in Texas. Willie and Alice Grant Poole were both buried in Florida. Children of Willie Poole and Alice Grant are: i. Roy Poole. ii. Gene Poole. iii. Alice Faye Poole. iv. Kenneth Poole. v. Jimmy Poole. Wilbur B. Poole so of Fluellen Poole and Matthew Fennell was born 1915 in Meeks, Emanuel, Ga, and died 1967 in ,Aiken, South Carolina. He married Hattie Mae Grant February 13, 1940 in Meeks, Johnson, Ga. They were married by Rev J H Barwick. She was the daughter Perry Grant and Annie Crabb. She was born October 01, 1922 in Meeks, Johnson, Ga, and died March 08, 1965 in ,Aiken, South Carolina. They are both buried at Sardis Church Cemetery near Meeks. Children of Wilbur Poole and Hattie Grant are: i Mary Faye Poole was daughter of Wilbur Poole and Hattie Mae Grant. She married William Bud Ford. Mary Faye told me she had heard all her life that her father's father was Matthew Fennell. She was born February 20, 1944, Meeks, Johnson, Ga ii. Patricia "Patsy" Poole. She married Holley. iii. Kathy Poole, died 1991. buried at Sardis Church Cemetery near Meeks. George Cleveland Poole, Sr. , son of Rev. T N Poole and Martha Sturdivant, was born May 10, 1889, and died November 20, 1965. He married (1) Lyles. He married (2) Emma Claud Rawls, daughter of Daniel Rawls and Nora Brantley. She was born June 28, 1898, and died December 13, 1974 in ,Johnson, Ga. Buried 1965, Westview Cemetery in Wrightsville, Ga Tribute For Emma Claud Rawls second wife of George Cleveland Poole Published in Macon Telegraph Mrs. Emma C. Poole Wrightsville ---- Mrs. Emma Claude Poole, 76. died Friday in a Laurens County hospital after a long illness. Service urlil be held at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Maple Springs Methodist Church. Burial will he in the Westview Cemetery. Mrs. Poole, a native of Johnson County had lived in Wrightsville for 15 years. She was a member of the Maple Springs Church.Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Juanita Garnto of Wrightsville, Mrs. Jeannette Flanders of Dublin, Mrs. Marian Davis of Jacksonville, Fla., and Mrs. Peggy Greer of Tifton; five sons, Walter L. Poole of Titusville Fla., James D. Poole of Charleston, S.C., Louis W. Poole of Trenton, Fla., George Poole Jr. of Ft. Leonardwood, Mo, and Talmadge Poole of Wrightsville; a brother, James Oscar Rawls of Wrightsville; three sisters, Mrs. Maude Foskey of Gainesville, Fla. Mrs. Noah Odom of Wrightsvllle and Mrs. R. F. Downs of ·Dublin. Stanley and Sons Funeral Home of Wrightsvilie has charge of arrangements.Buried 1974, Westview, Johnson, Ga This was in the Macon newspaper and was found in Aunt Lois' Bible. Child of George Cleveland Poole, Sr. and his first wife _____Lyles is: i. George Earnest Poole, born Abt. 1915; died Abt. 1985 in Apopka, Fl. George Earnest was a Church of God minister in the Augusta Ga area. His father George Cleveland Poole Sr. divorced his Lyles mother when he was a baby. Rev. George Earnest Poole Apopka, Florida. His mother married a Newland man after the divorce. They had 5 children. Half sister of George Earnest is Madge McClendon and she lives in Clearwater, South Carolina She married Julian L McClendon. Children of George Cleveland Poole, Sr. and his second wife Emma Rawls are: i. Walter L. ( W. L. ) Poole, born 1918; died 1984. Worked at the military base at Titusville, Fl ii. James D. Poole, born 1919. Lives at Deep Step, Sandersville, Washington Co Ga iii. Louis Wade Poole, born 1920 in Johnson, Ga. He married Myrtle Crosby February 19, 1938 in Johnson, Ga; born Abt. 1918 in Johnson, Ga. Myrtle born Abt. 1920, Johnson, Ga Lives in Trenton, Florida. Called Wade iv Juanita Poole, born 1921 in Johnson, Ga. She married (1) Jordan. She married (2) Otha C Garnto February 21, 1943 in Johnson, Ga; born Abt. 1920 in Johnson, Ga; died in Johnson, Ga. v. Jeannette Poole, born 1922 in Johnson, G vi. Marion Poole, born 1923. She married Tommy Davis. Lives in Jacksonville vii. Jr. George Cleveland Jr. Poole, born 1924. Lives in Tifton. viii. Talmadge Poole, born 1925. Lives in Johnson Co Ga near Adrian ix. Martha Nora "Peggy" Poole, born Abt. 1930 in Johnson County.. She married Wallace Greer. Lives in Tifton, Ga. Wallace is from Hawkinsville. Beth is dau of Wallace and Martha. v Jeannette Poole was born 1922 in Johnson, Ga. She married Gordon Flanders October 03, 1943 in Johnson, Ga.
